His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej who passed away on October 13, 2016 was talented in all aspects of music. He played the clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, guitar and piano and throughout his reign composed forty nine titles varying from jazz and classical pieces, marches, waltzes, patriotic songs and musical scores for ballet performances. All the pieces the King has written are proof of his musical expertise particularly in jazz which was his favorite genre. Consequently, he has thus played an important role in making traditional jazz well known in Thailand which is why it has become part of the music culture in his country today.

With this CD the Dutch Swing College Band pays homage to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej by playing 10 of his Royal jazz compositions in the Band’s inimitable sound.
